This is Rua.

Rua has been a member of our family since November 2014 when she came to us from Vizsla Rescue. Like too many dogs, she had a very difficult start to life. Vizsla Rescue had so much understanding of her needs, and they did absolutely everything they could do to help her in the best way possible that they ensured the moment they collected her was the end of her ever being misunderstood again. They continue to give help and support whenever we need it and I will never be able to stop thanking them from the bottom of my heart for bringing Rua into our lives.

Wherever I can, I help with artwork for the products they sell to raise funds or for online auctions, but as I had been planning to launch a series of prints this year I am selling the first one with 50% profit going directly to Vizsla Rescue.  The image is of Juta at Grey Mare’s Tail in Scotland and it really strikes a chord with me as she is so keen and playful, oblivious to the cold water or the stormy day, just intent on watching what’s about to be thrown or maybe the birds flying overhead! I hope it depicts a familiar scene for others too.

The original piece is not for sale, it belongs to Juta’s mum, but prints are available. They are giclee printed onto Hahnemuhle Photorag paper which is textured just like pastel paper. Even as the artist, I find it difficult to tell the original from the prints.  They are individually signed and can be gift packaged, framed or mounted as required.Screenshot 2016-03-04 at 7.07.24 PM

Use code OPM141 at checkout for a 10% discount on all giclee prints.

I am a pet and wildlife artist, originally from Ireland but now based in Frome, England with my husband and children, two rescue dogs Rua the Hungarian Vizsla and Ogie the blind terrier, and Jet the cat. I take commissions for pet portraits and draw original animal art, most of which is sold as fine art prints and art cards. I also teach others how to draw through online classes and short courses available through my website. I have been working as a full time artist for many years, and have fulfilled hundreds of pet portrait commissions. My client base is international, and I ship worldwide for free. My work has been featured in publications such as Dogs Today Magazine, Dogs Monthly, The Guardian, Talented Ladies Club and Country Living Magazine. I support animal charities whenever I can, by regularly donating art to various rescue group fundraisers, donating 20% of income from prints to various breed specific rescues and providing wildlife rescues and rehabilitations centres with original art to fundraise and create merchandise. If you are interested in purchasing or commissioning art, or if you just want to connect, you can contact gillian@perpetualportraits.co.uk
