Learn to Draw your Horse with Pencil

Learn to Draw your Horse
This online tutored course is suitable for complete beginners and requires only a pencil and paper. It will run over 6 weeks, and will teach you how to draw your horse’s head and neck with pencil.

One on one support and guidance
Each week you will receive a new lesson which will help you to build on your drawing, as well as teaching some skills and techniques. As a follow on from those weekly lessons, I will be available throughout the course for anything you might want explained further or just for general feedback. I am always happy to offer further demonstrations or lessons broken down into smaller steps, and provide detailed feedback if required.
Aims of the course
Whether you are a complete beginner, have some experience but have lost confidence, or you struggle with certain aspects of drawing the aim of this course is to:
  • Increase your confidence
  • Learn to identify and conquer aspects of drawing you might find difficult
  • Complete a drawing from start to finish
  • Learn skills you can apply to drawing any subject
I firmly believe that anybody can learn to draw, and my hope is that you will be inspired to continue to draw past the completion of the course.
Join the course
The course will begin on May 12th. As this course offers one on one feedback and support, numbers are strictly limited.
About me
I have worked as a professional artist for the past 10 years, specialising in pet portraits in a range of mediums. Before becoming a full time studio-based artist, I worked as a muralist, sign writer and art tutor.

‘I have just finished a learn to draw a dog 🐾portrait class from Gillian. The experience far exceeded my expectations of what an online drawing class would be. We were given the expert “corrections” or suggestions by Gillian, and by having us as a group we were able to learn from each others drawings as we progressed. Also, much support, praise and encouragement was given by Gillian and the group members. And who knew we were all such good artists!! We saw the dogs come alive on the page. I am continuing on to another class, and that one will not be my last! Thank you Gillian.’ – Chris B.

‘Gillian has been a wonderful teacher, she is so positive and filled me with the confidence I was lacking. Her step by step approach is easy to follow and she is always there if you have a query or question! If you’re thinking of joining I wouldn’t hesitate, the course has been fantastic and I have met lots of lovely like minded people.’ Hazel W.

‘Thanks again for this course, I’m so looking forward to the other courses. This has been an amazing experience and I haven’t stopped drawing since and enjoying every minute of it. My granddaughter is so looking forward to getting dolly in a frame and taking it home with her. Many many thanks.’ -Fay V.

‘Thank you Gillian for offering this terrific course. I’ve loved discovering if I could do this and if I could draw a portrait of my dog starting with basic shapes and no tracing? Previously I had only drawn 1 dog before and that was as a teenager over 35 years ago so now there is the confidence to continue to learn. You have taught us well!
It’s been wonderful watching everyone’s dogs come to life on the paper and how supportive this group is.’ – Fiona B

‘I am nearly at the end of a 6 week course on How to Draw Your Dog with Gillian. I have learnt so much from this in a way I never thought possible. It’s amazing to see your dog come to life on paper week by week. The tutorials are very explicit and Gillian is so patient and encouraging with your efforts. I’d not hesitate to recommend Gillian or this course.’ – Pat C.
