I have had so many commissions for portraits of Labradors in the past few weeks, I thought I would dedicate a blog especially to them. Here are a few from the past two years…
Commissioning a portrait of more than one subject does not require a reference photograph of all subjects together. You may be lucky enough to have a perfect photo to use as a reference, but especially with pets and children, this is often completely impossible!
As portraits, especially pet portraits, can rarely be done from life a huge part of creating a portrait that a client will love is choosing the right photograph.

It has been so busy with Christmas commissions and charity portraits that I’ve noticed I have been finishing one portrait every weekday. I’ve set up a blog to document the paintings I’ve been finishing each day entitled, imaginatively ‘A Painting A Day.
A huge majority of commissions I receive for portraits and artwork are gifts. Right now with Christmas fast approaching, I have so many secret commissions in the works to which I am sworn to secrecy that I feel like a spy!
A professional framer can make a piece of art look beautiful, impressive and complete. For original art, it is highly recommended to go to a professional framer as different mediums require different methods of framing and it is all too easy to destroy artwork when framing without the right tools or knowledge.
